Jetz Community Flea Market
On Saturday November 13th, 2010- Jetz cheerleaders had their first Community Flea Market event at Rolling Ridge Elementary School.
On Friday night November 12th many volunteers, parents and cheerleaders were busy setting up all the donated items on the various tables into different sections. The volunteers spent over 3 hours organizing the numerous items to be sold.
Many people from the Reston and Loudon community came out to support this event. There were a variety of vendors including those who sold makeup, candles, clothing, books, toys, food, jewelry and many other household items. Many items were also donated to help make this fundraising event a success such as diapers, detergents, toys, body washes, blow up beds, chairs, and computers just to name a few.
The event kicked off at 8 am at which time people began to make their way around from vendor to vendor closely looking and inquiring about the various items on display. The Jetz had different sections from kitchen supplies to household items which created a buzz of excitement with the shoppers looking for a bargain. Many customers got an early start on their holiday shopping. The cheerleaders and volunteers were very busy promoting the various items on display, assisting the shoppers as they selected specific items and answering the different questions of the patrons.
With all the chatter and excitement within a few hours only very few items were remaining on hand majority of which were sold at reduced prices. As one satisfied patron said, “These are some great deals I am happy that I came out to support this event, I got some real bargains.” The Jetz was able to raise funds to help support the activities and preparation for the Nationals in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
We want to give a special thanks to all the volunteers, parents, cheerleaders, sponsors, vendors and most of all the patrons that came out to support this event, making it a success.
